2005 Princess V48 – Brochure, Model Overview

The new V48 is an all-weather boat for sailors who enjoy the thrill of the great outdoors.

Whatever your expectations of a boat of this class, the Princess V48 will challenge them. Whether judged on accommodation, speed, or styling, she sets a new standard. The cockpit has been designed to make al fresco living a true pleasure, with two seating areas, wet bar with refrigerator and an optional electric barbecue. There is also a large sunbed aft, beneath which is a garage for stowing a tender or wetbike. Yet the V48 is very much an all-weather craft. Cockpit covers can be positioned for complete enclosure, as a bimini sun shade or completely open.

Alternatively, the optional 'hard-top' has an electrically opening centre section.

The spaciousness of the accommodation below is remarkable for a high-performance powerboat of this size. The saloon feels unusually roomy and incorporates an all-electric galley with a stylish timber-laid floor. The master cabin has a central double bed, while the twin-berth guest cabin spans the full width of the hull. Both have their own bathrooms with separate stall shower. And for occasional guests, the saloon sofa converts into a double berth.

But the place to test the V48s mettle is at sea - and you quickly discover the deeper than usual V of her hull is more than good looking. It delivers phenomenal long-range cruising performance and a beautifully smooth ride, even in challenging conditions, while electronic engine controls and high-speed rudders make handling at all speeds a delight.

2005 Princess V48 – Brochure, Range Overview

The Princess V Class - Performance without compromise.

The V Class has combined the advantages of the Princess motor yacht - superb seakeeping and impeccable quality - in a precision engineered, high speed design.

Their looks certainly set them apart. The muscular deep V of their hulls and eagerly raked lines exude performance - and they more than live up to this high-speed appearance. These are very swift boats indeed, even in less than ideal conditions. In a V Class sports yacht, distant destinations are suddenly nearer.

Yet the V Class delivers more than outstanding high performance. These latest generation hull designs have been refined for impeccable seakeeping and straight-line stability which will delight the most demanding yachtsman.

They are equally easy to handle at low speeds. The combination of conventional drive, electronic engine controls and, where necessary, power assisted steering and a powerful bow thruster, allows manoeuvring to be undertaken with precision.

Travelling in a V Class craft is an experience never forgotten, The feel of precision engineering is unmistakable and a pleasure in itself. But arriving is no less enjoyable.

These boats are genuine inheritors of the Princess pedigree - a name synonymous with comfort, quality and style. So the approach to accommodation is as uncompromising as the insistence on breathtaking performance.

On deck and down below, the accommodation is more than merely spacious and eminently practical. Supremely comfortable, immaculately crafted and fitted with every possible facility, it is designed to delight the eye for lasting pleasure of ownership. Yet at the heart of the V Class concept lies something more than a unique combination of staggering performance with superbly comfortable accommodation....

What makes the V Class such a truly remarkable class of sports yacht is the determination to express the style, panache and sheer exuberance of performance - without compromise.

Performance, seaworthiness, comfort, style - however you judge the V Class fleet, it outperforms. But the true distinguishing characteristic of these extraordinary sports boats is how they combine excellence in all these areas.

Every facet of a V-Class boat has been rigorously evaluated - from the position of the spray rails for optimum ride comfort, spray control and turning performance, to the choice of engine manufacturer to achieve the designed speed with maximum economy, complete smoothness and in the quietest possible environment within the craft.

The extra one or two knots that Princess achieve compared with most others may not seem much but, at fast cruising speeds, it can provide significant extra performance and range at continuous power settings.

During the design process, hull lines are developed and honed with advanced computer modelling using the latest CAD software. This is refined by many thousands of hours of testing in some of the toughest waters of the world - the English Channel off Plymouth.

It is an approach that has enabled Princess to pioneer new standards in hull design. Propeller tunnels increase efficiency and forward thrust, as well as improving visibility by keeping the boat more horizontal in the transition from displacement to planing. The curved chine design gives a softer ride with less vibration.

Once the design is perfected, the V Class is manufactured in some of the most modern factories in Europe. The very latest machinery and CAM processes are incorporated to make sure each Princess yacht is built to unerringly precise quality standards.

At the end of the build process, each conventional drive boat is individually sea-tested, evaluated and fine tuned to make sure it delivers the performance, handling and integrity which are all part of the V Class experience.

Life on a V Class sports yacht is a chance to escape from the routines of everyday life. It gives you the freedom to break away, whenever the mood takes you.

Yet the V Class offers more than the thrill of commanding a supremely capable vessel at speeds that set the pulse racing. It provides owners and guests with a level of comfort that achieves a new standard, and in a style to which you will quickly become accustomed. On deck, the accent is on open-air living and entertaining, enjoying all the pleasures of cruising and the excitement of travel. Below, the ambience is more relaxed. Here, fine materials, subtle lighting and inspired styling combine to create a special atmosphere of quiet confidence and effodess comfort.

The sheer quality of finish is second to none, and is consistent across the entire V Class fleet, from the largest to the most compact.

All the cabinetry, from the solid curves of the door frames to the specially designed contemporary furniture, is crafted using classic or natural cherry wood veneers, often featuring marquetry inlay or quartered grain. They are then protected with up to seven layers of lacquer, rubbed
down by hand between coats, for a deep lustrous finish.

2005 Princess V48 – Brochure Foreword

The Princess name has become synonymous with all that's finest in motor yacht design. Regardless of size, Princess motor yachts generally exceed their owners' expectations for performance, seakeeping, comfort and safety.

Every Princess craft is the result of a rigorous and uncompromising approach to every detail of its design and manufacture. These details are sometimes obvious for all to see. On the water, there's no mistaking a Princess. They are instantly recognisable for their graceful lines and a timeless elegance that will never date.

Other details, however, need to be experienced to be fully appreciated. Underlying those sleek looks are Princess's pioneering advances in hull design to achieve higher speeds, more safely and more comfortably. This marriage of form and function also delivers superior economy, so you can enjoy cruising not just faster, but further.

Whilst outstanding performance, superior seakeeping and comfortable long-range fast cruising are the hallmarks of the Princess motor yacht, so too is ease of handling at low speeds. The combination of conventional drive, electronic engine controls and, where necessary, power assisted steering and a powerful bow thruster, allows manoeuvring to be undertaken with precision.

A similarly uncompromising approach is taken to the interiors. As well as making full use of all available space and fitting every possible comfort, Princess interiors are designed to delight the eye, to give lasting pleasure of ownership.

Whether you are relishing commanding her through challenging seas, enjoying al fresco entertaining on the flybridge, or relaxing in the comfort of the saloon or your cabin, one of the great pleasures of owning a Princess motor yacht is the certainty that you made the right decision.
